I Have Arrived

I have a tendency to notice everything—except what’s right in front of me. Honestly, I’m not surprised.

After decades of working in organizations that rushed from one goal to the next, my mind learned to keep looking ahead. We were always planning the next step, too busy to pause and appreciate what we had already accomplished. It often felt like we were moving through a heavy fog—unable to see what had actually been achieved by the end of the day.

And in those moments, I’d catch myself wondering:

“What is this all for? What are we really chasing here?”

While many of us were focused on titles, salaries, and promotions, there were deeper, unspoken things we longed for:

  • Peace. A chance to catch one's breath.

  • Enjoyment. A space to savor the small wins.

  • Connection. A moment to simply be present with others.

This dissonance created a quiet whisper in my mind, urging me: “Hurry up, so we can take a break already.”

That only kept me stuck in the cycle—always rushing, never feeling fulfilled.

It wasn’t until I learned to slow down that I discovered some key truths:

  • Nothing broke in my absence.

  • Deep sleep made me a better problem solver.

  • Not packing my day with back-to-back meetings opened space for creativity.

It sounds unexpected, right?

Joy and ease aren’t distant destinations or rewards we have to earn–it’s already ours.
